Hawes Building Solutions believes it is essential to ensure quality skilled carpenters enter the building industry and are keen to take on apprentices. The company currently has 3 apprentices who benefit from a wide range of construction projects providing the opportunity to hone skills on new buildings and refurbishments of both commercial and residential buildings. The experience the apprentices gain from leaky building remediation projects is invaluable as they uncover poor design components and in some cases bad trade practice in construction methods that were used in the past.
Hawes Building Solutions encourages and supports the NZ Carpentry Apprenticeship Challenge. In 2015 Reinn Duxfield and Luke Dickinson represented the company in the BOP Regional Carpentry Apprenticeship Challenge. Both did extremely well with Reinn coming third and Luke winning the competition. Luke went on to represent the company in the final held during the Certified Builders Conference in May in Christchurch.
