Mount Maunganui Intermediate, Superloo
Lodge Ave, Mount Maunganui
Dimensions Architects Ltd was the architect and project manager for this project and contracted Hawes Building Solutions Ltd on behalf of the school to complete the building contract. The scope of work included demolition and removal of old store rooms and toilet areas attached to the main school hall. These areas were then converted into a new sports storage room, two new changing rooms and two new toilet blocks, plus a disabled toilet facility.
The exterior involved significant new drainage, a security enclosure to protect the exterior hand basins, new drinking fountains and paving work. The entire hall, library and toilet area were also upgraded to the latest fire protection standards.
Initial work involved subfloor drainage and a new cement screed to form falls to drainage outlets. New vinyl flooring was then installed followed by “Multicom” wall linings specifically designed to cater for a school environment. Toilet partitions were installed together with changing room seating to provide a high specification, low maintenance and robust design for the school.
As the school was occupied during most of the works, Hawes Building Solutions paid particular attention to health & safety issues on the site. Perimeter fencing, site safety signage, hazard identification and other safety issues were monitored closely. Noise was kept to a minimum and was also programmed around specific school requirements.
The project was completed on time and to budget.
